Although we are very much in favor of wire printing, for some applications, powder is still more suitable:
When adding materials to highly irregular surfaces, powder may be a better choice if accurate nozzle-to-part distances may not be obtained when applying or repairing certain parts.
While many alloys can be used as wires, some of the more exotic materials may only be available in powder form.
Another reason to support the powder deposition function is that in our digital alloy deposition heads, two or more materials can be mixed in different ratios throughout the deposition process. An interesting intermediate zone is also the digital alloying of powders and wires, which can only be achieved on our deposition systems.
